Yes, it may seem the longest lull ever in our little kitchen since the last story we shared was two Christmases ago. The truth, however, is that we’re still up and running! And behind the ‘quiet calm’, we still have some busy moments in the kitchen.
Our pre-teen invading the kitchen was the highlight of 2024. Since our kitchen activities have always been child-led, our aspiring future chef has been more active trying out online recipes on his own.
As he’s so much into pasta, he cooked it a lot of times the past year. He had authentic carbonara, cacio e pepe, aglio olio, pesto, and a lot more. He also had pizza and some soup at times. Occasionally, we worked on some savory dishes, bread and pastry. We also tried to add some healthy meals like salads. And, of course, a lot of sweet treats!

Sometime in August, I joined the internet craze and tried making my own version of the Dubai pistachio chocolate bar. And to cap off the year three months earlier, I baked my classic burnt Basque cheesecake topped with strawberries as a birthday treat to myself!

We’re grateful to God for the past year! Despite days filled with busy schedules, we’re still able to make precious memories in the kitchen. And we’re looking forward to having more of those precious memories together this year! <3
