I’ve always been fond of cooking. From a young age, I’ve had my share of preparing humble family meals. I guess, it runs in the family. Growing up, I observed family members’ love for cooking — from my Lola Mering, Nanay, Ate Nora, and even my late Tita Lita and Tito Roger. I can vividly remember at least one delicious dish each of them had made. My grandmother’s relyenong bangus, my mother’s humba, my sister’s pancit luglug, my aunt’s fruit candies, and my uncle’s morcon. My mother also cooked all sorts of snacks which we sold in the neighborhood after school like donut ala bicho-bicho, homemade fish balls, maruya, and many more.
At around 2 years old, my son started browsing through my recipe books.
And when he was about 5, he showed a more serious interest in food. We started watching cooking and baking videos together and soon embarked on our muffins-and-more project. It was called so because his first request was that we bake muffins. It was so cute of him cutting out a paper chef hat. Later on, his Tita Dea gifted him with a real chef hat and apron!
I’m sharing here some highlights of our cooking and baking sessions from 2017 to 2019.
