Fave Sweets, Fave Chef!

Yesterday morning, while we’re still in bed, I had this convo with the kiddo:

Me: Good morning! It’s Saturday!
Kiddo: Good morning, Mom! It’s ice cream day!
Me: Okay, but we’re not buying. We’ll just make one.
Kiddo: I like Oreo ice cream. And make sure you do it like Anna Olson.
Me: How does she do it?
Kiddo: She bakes it. It’s an ice cream cake. So, you will make two. One is like McFlurry Oreo and the other one is the ice cream cake.
Me: Alright. Show me the video and I’ll see if I can make it. But let’s just have the Oreo ice cream first today.

I honestly felt pressured as my son’s ice cream cake standard is that of his favorite chef. 😀

After breakfast, I immediately made his requested ice cream as it had to be in the fridge for at least six hours. Just in time, the kiddo already had his ice cream for the afternoon snack.

I asked him how the ice cream was and he said, “It’s delicious! And it’s like McFlurry Oreo.” My heart melted even before the ice cream did because of my son’s usual generous comment. 😀

Then he asked, “So when will you make the ice cream cake, Mom?” I told him that I still have to study how to make one.

Last night, I searched for recipes of ice cream cake. I wanted to make it simple as I am not much into cakes yet in terms of experience and skills.

This Sunday morning, I decided to just pull out that fool-proof recipe of sponge cake I’ve been using to make the bread for the requested ice cream cake.

The ice cream cake wasn’t as pretty as it should be but the kiddo was happy to have it this afternoon for snacks. Anyway, it’s still weekend; he can still enjoy his sweet treats. 😀
