Easy Bread and One Dish Meals

While I am currently in love with sourdough breadmaking these days, the truth is I cannot do it all the time. That’s why I usually reserve it for weekends. Nonetheless, when the family craves for homemade breads, I can easily go back to the typical (and easy) method of baking using instant yeast.

Don’t get me wrong because I know that even baking with instant yeast requires some proofing time which can still be discouraging for busy moms. But I learned that some breads don’t require much time (at most two hours, I should say) and prepping can still be inserted into our busy schedules.

Focaccia sounds elegant but is quite a simple recipe. Pretzels are fun to make for kids, too. Of course, who wouldn’t want the classic sponge cake for snacks? I also love freshly baked dinner rolls paired with butter – so yummy! And yes, our regular whole wheat bread and dearly loved pandesal. Breakfast or snacks, the family is happy to munch!

When it comes to one dish meals, you won’t go wrong with salads. Greens and proteins, you’ll be all set. For some carbs, add some bread – croutons or toasts. I also tried braised pork with shitake mushrooms and tofu. And for that Filipino palate, tokwa’t baboy is my bet.

If you want to try something new but not FIlipino, add kimbap to the list. 😀
